Google Cloud is a step closer in competing with the tech clouds giants AWS and Microsoft

Azure, with the appointment of Thomas Kurian as the CEO of Google Cloud. Thomas Kurian was the president of the product development team at Oracle, before he took the position as the Google Cloud CEO. Kurian has taken some vigorous actions in getting Google Cloud a upper hand. Core members of the Google Cloud team include Karan Bajwa who was formerly the MD of IBM India, Anil Bhansali – corporate vice-president of Microsoft’s Azure cloud, Anil Valluri –President of NetApp’s (India and Saarc), Mitesh Agarwal –President of sales for global key accounts in Oracle. They have taken up core positions in the Google Cloud infrastructure.



Bajwa who has taken the position of MD at Google Cloud India, has stated that, there will be a high number of vacancies available for the tech an sales professionals.


"Technology was built for running the core Google services. There are at least nine services each with a billion users at Google, services that are offered off the Google cloud platform-network, storage, compute, data application platform, AI/ML, among others. The very big layer in all this is always people, and the one change Thomas is driving is bringing in people from the enterprise world. That's the journey being replicated in India as well," he said.



Kurian has targeted six core industries to beef-up with its competitor’s i.e AWS and Azure. Kurian has targeted healthcare, retail, financial services, media & entertainment, manufacturing, and public sector.He has implemented the current technologies in the market to suit these six industries. AI/ML, data processing & analytics are the core technological advancements customers are craving from Google Cloud. They have created Anthos – a application management platform which has the capabilities to allow customers to use the cloud services such as cloud scaling, while the customer has being using the services on their native premises, which also allows for complete portability across multiple clouds. Another service named BigQuery, provides users with real time and predictive analytical data for enormous data sets. This also could be used on multiple cloud environment, which makes it more portable and desirable
